There Is A Child Living Inside of My Brain by Shelley Nation

There is a child living inside of my brain ashamed to answer my prayers he dares to ignore me simply smiles and listens to me think. There is a child floating along my skin my arms disjointed unscarred belly pigeon-toed legs free-flowing child like ski-slope snow ride. There is a child speaking through my mouth whispering lullabies nursery rhymes hallelujah church songs says he belongs to me and me to him. There is a child so scared to dream or to be seen with me that he throws a temper tantrum to the sky and rather die than call me his mom to say he is my son.
